UGANDA Super League Limited has re-adjusted and released new fixtures to accomodate new entrants Bidco and Water.

The new 16-team fixture rosta is also supposed to take care of the U-23 team’s participation in the forthcoming All Africa Games that start on September 4.

For this reason, giants KCC FC, SC Villa, Bunamwaya and Victors have been excluded for the first three weeks of the league start as each have more than two players on the Kobs team.

The development pits champions URA FC against Express in the opener in what should arguably be the biggest and first televised match under SuperSport’s sh12b five-year sponsorship deal.

Yet here lies a few concerns.
On any day, the Express-URA tie would pass for a mouth-watering fixture and as such would demand a better venue to match the grand start of the new season.

Is Wankulukuku the ideal advert?
Although Wankulukuku boasts of a green surface, its main pavilion and isolated dressing rooms will not present a good advert for domestic football.

USL manager Paul Kabaikaramu yesterday pointed that: “Express registered Wankulukuku and that can only change if the league sponsors demand it,” Kabaikaramu said.

Aside from dignitaries, the opening fixture is expected to attract a mammoth crowd yet the main pavilion accomodates approximately 200 fans.

In a bid to ensure top-notch broadcasts, Supersport will invest in a broadcasting van, 12 top-class cameras and train over 40 staff to sustain the project.

For the last fortnight, Express has been embroiled in administrative turmoil.

Recently, club’s fans stormed the club’s training ground and forced out the players and coaches in protest of the way club boss Kavuma Kabenge was running the club. They have since demanded that the club reclaims its original name as a Football Club and not Sports Club as recently registered.
