Two women have allegedly been murdered by their husbands in Kibaale district in two days.
In the first incident, Emmanuel Munyaneza, 35, allegedly murdered Donanta Mukamaana. The incident took place in Nyamarunda sub-county on Sunday night.

The district Police commander, John Elatu Ojokuna, said Munyaneza allegedly killed Mukamaana after a domestic quarrel at their home late in the night.

“This murder was reported by the village chairman, Emmanuel Kemerwa, who said the man killed his wife and went into hiding,” said Ojokuna.

He said the suspect is still on the run, but the Police are hunting for him.

“We appeal to the general public to avail us with relevant information that can help bring this man to face the law,” Ojokuna said.

In a related incident, James Makumbi, 32, of Kyenkonge village, Kyebando sub-county allegedly killed his wife, Jane Nakanwagi.

Makumbi is said to have initially told residents that his wife went out in the night and did not return. He said in the morning, he discovered his wife dead. He said there were panga cuts on the body.

However, the Police preliminary investigations revealed that the woman was murdered from inside the house and her body carried outside to tamper with evidence.
“We discovered a mattress and a panga with blood inside the house and we had to arrest the man,” Ojokuna said.

The motive of the murder is not yet established.
