IN a bid to cement their serious intentions after restructuring management, Sports Club Villa have put participation in the World club Championships as their target in five years.

The club director of football Joseph Kanaaba told the players and technical staff at Villa Park yesterday that they had assembled a formidable team that is capable of realising their goal.

“We have assembled a team with many strikers and we should win the league playing the most entertaining brand of football but with the ultimate aim of playing in the world club championship in 3-5 years,” Kanaaba said.

Kanaaba was addressing technical staff and players at their first training session at Villa Park yesterday where club president Fred Muwema tasked them to restore the club’s glory by winning the league trophy this season.

“This season you’re going to be under pressure to deliver because everyone is under pressure. The chairman, the board and the fans are all under pressure for results,” Muwema stated.

“Whereas we can congratulate you for finishing sixth last season, we shall not even entertain second place this season. You must deliver, we last won a trophy seven years ago and that is unacceptable at Villa” a tough talking Muwema said.

He said they had brought in more players to create more competition for places and fight complacency in the team.

The club has recruited Ayub Kisaliita, Herman Wasswa, Fred Muhumuza , Benjamin Ochan, Moses Ndawula, Ronald Musana, Patrick Senfuka, Denis Okot and Terry Etumba from Congo.

Club introduces mobile toilets
Management has brought in mobile toilets to save the players from looking around for places of convenience at the training ground, water bottles and a changing tent are among other new services.

Srjan under pressure
Club coach Srjan Zivojnov arrived at Villa Park in December 2010, signed a two year contract but asked to be given time to build a future Jogoos team, adds Swalley Kenyi.

Muwema however stated: “At the end of the season it will be this performance we use to renew his (Srjan Zivojnov) contract.”
