REJUVENATED SC Villa has not only unleashed a solid squad but will splash sh870m in a bid to grab a league and cup double in the 2011/2012 season.

Villa director of football Joseph Kanaaba told The New Vision yesterday that management had already approved the hefty budget in an effort to capture both the Uganda Super League and Bell Uganda Cup.

According to Kanaaba, the club has already spent sh92m on new signings Ayub Kisalita, Herman Waswa, Fred Muhumuza, Benjamin Ochan, Moses Ndawula, Ronald Musana, Patrick Senfuka, Denis Okot and Terry Etumba who were unveiled at Villa Park on Monday.

Villa that has adapted a professional management structure since flashy city lawyer Fred Muwema came into leadership two years ago is demanding success from Serbian tactician Srjan Zivojanov.

The club pays a $3500 (sh9m) salary to Zivojanov and sh5m on the other staff on the bench. An additional sh5m will be spent on the players’ salaries which range between sh200,000 and sh350,000. Asked how Villa would fund the huge budget, Kanaaba explained that each of the 12 directors would contribute at least sh20m.

“We also expect some money from Al-wasl F.C in Dubai that will buy shares, a shirt sponsor that we hope to get, SuperSport’s contribution and subscriptions fees from our fan-base.”
