THE Archbishop of Kampala diocese, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has offered to preside over the church wedding of singer Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and his fiancée, Barbie Itungo.

The ceremony will take place at Rubaga Cathedral on August 27.

Bobi Wine said on Wednesday that Lwanga had called him on phone to say that he would preside over the wedding.

“We had requested for him, but had not got confirmation. I am happy that he has accepted,” Bobi Wine said from his office in Bukoto.

He said his great-grandfathers, the late Siteli Ssentamu and Joseph Walakira together with his father, Jackson Willington Ssentamu, were also wedded at Rubaga Cathedral.

On Tuesday, Bobi Wine drove to his home area in Kanoni, Gomba district to claim his baptism certificate and a letter of confirmation from his birth place.

The documents are a prerequisite before he is allowed to wed.

Bobi Wine said his father gave him a rosary and blessed him for success on his wedding day.

The singer said he would travel to France next week to buy the wedding suits and other requirements.

Barbie would shop online from the United States because she does not want to travel before the wedding.

Bobi Wine said he would suspend public performances two weeks to his wedding day to enable him rest.

He said he would also set aside some time to revise prayers since he was tasked to teach about the Penance Sacrament next week during the Tuesday class at Rubaga Cathedral.

Latest contributions to Bobi Wine’s wedding budget include sh38m from Peter Kaggwa of Events Warehouse. Kaggwa has also offered a free sound system, ambulances and lighting.
