Hanging out with Keturah Kamugasa

When asked why she wanted to specifically meet Keturah Kamugasa, the editor of Vision Group’s Flair Magazine, Victoria Nanyonga, a student of Makerere University, swiftly remarked: “Because I desire to be the next Keturah.”

The two spent a Friday afternoon at Javas, Oasis Mall, shopped at Mr. Price and shook off the day’s heat at Ultra Salon. SOLOMON OLENY asked about her experience.

Blitz shocked me with an incredible call. Upon breaking the news that my request to hang out with Keturah had been honoured, I lost track and forgot I was preparing supper.

I dashed to my sister in the living room to share the exciting news. Thank God I recollected myself before the food got burnt. As for my sister, she could not help but wish she was the one because she loves Keturah just as much.

It was so exciting because I sent my request to Blitz with so much skeptism. There I was on the scheduled day at Javas; very nervous with my heart racing.

I peered about to see if she had arrived every other time. Then she showed up. With sweaty palms filled with anxiety, I reached out to greet her. Wow!

She delightfully embraced me with a motherly hug in addition to the handshake. All this while she was smiling and I could see she too was excited to see me.

Cloud nine. With my icon beside me at the salon, I was over the moon. We chatted like girlfriends who grew up together. I came expecting her to exhibit a very principled character, but here we were — having a blast and discussing all spheres of life freely.

Of course, fashion dominated our conversation because it is one of the strongest passions we share.
It was interesting knowing Keturah is so into cartoons. She told me she was eager to watch Kungfu Panda 2.

On the other hand, she told me she hates X-rated movies because of their obscene content. This confirmed to me that she is the perfect role model I have always thought she was.

One of the biggest lessons I have drawn from what we shared is the need for me to be smart in thinking and acting for as long as I desire to be the Keturah Kamugasa of our generation.

Regardless of what circumstances come my way, I am now nourished with the knowledge it takes to be “Keturah Kamugasa”.

It was such an inspirational moment in my life; a moment I will live to remember. By the way, she gave me a very trendy set of accessories which I have to keep for my wedding day!

Oh, I almost forgot something; I really loved the pampering at the salon. For two hours, I got a back massage and her jokes at the same time also served as an icing to the entire treat making it complete.

It was a hefty bill at the end of the day but she footed it with a smile, an aspect missing in many of us.

At such a moment, what more can I say, thanks to Blitz for making my dream come true. Nakupenda Saana!
