His song Bidi Bidi is not only catchy but also relevant to the on-going economic crisis which has gripped us in recent times.

The song implores us to work hard — bidi is a street lingua for hard work and persistence.

Still in the song, the artist invokes several names of high ranking personalities in our society like the President, who have worked hard and persevered in order to get where they are right now.

The style of this song is Afro- Reggae juxtaposed with a Kwaito sound in the background.

Kwaito, a popular style in South Africa, is inspired by his life in South Africa where he is currently based.

SemKDee, whose real name is Yusuf Semakadde, currently has 10 albums and says he has penned and produced all of them.

He also owns a recording studio called Music World in South Africa, where he does his production and arrangement.

Though he has 10 albums to his name, it is Bidi, Bidi which has jet-propelled his career as a musician.
The album has songs like Hero, My culture, Jennifer, I love you and Akyampamne, among others.

“Though I have been in the industry for two decades now, I feel this album has the full weight of my potential as an artiste,” he said in a telephone interview.

But the artiste still has an up-hill task to promote himself on the local music scene because his name and music is hardly known.

This is presumably because he is based in South Africa. It can also be possible that the artiste has no firm marketing structures to promote his music here.

Nevertheless, there is a glimmer of hope now that a couple of local radio stations, particularly Bukedde FM and Ddembe FM have picked interest in playing his songs.

SemKDee on the contrary, promises to have a Uganda version of his album launch at the end of this year in Kampala after his successful launch in Pretoria, South Africa last year in December.

He is an entrepreneur and happily married.
