FLORENCE Namayanja yesterday retained her Bukoto East parliamentary seat after the High Court in Kampala dismissed a petition seeking to nullify her election over alleged electoral offences.

In March this year, Francis Xavier Mugula, a registered voter in the constituency petitioned court, claiming Namayanja bribed voters and defamed her opponent, Alintuma Nsambu.

Nsambu was the NRM flag-bearer for the Bukoto East MP race.

Mugula also alleged that the Electoral Commission favoured Namayanja.

But in her judgement, Justice Elizabeth Musoke said the petition lacked trustworthiness to warrant the nullification of Namayanja’s election.
