Namilyago wins National school championships

NAMILYANGO Junior boy’s school, Mukono beat all the odds and became the National schools music, dance and drama festivals champions for the year 2011.This year’s theme were East Africa community Alive, safe and learning.

NAMILYANGO Junior boy’s school, Mukono beat all the odds and became the National schools music, dance and drama festivals champions for the year 2011.This year’s theme were East Africa community Alive, safe and learning.

A total of 31 schools across the country participated in the five days event held at national theatre auditorium room that ended on Sunday. Ministry of education and East African community sponsored the event.

Over 2000 pupils attended the event and were awarded certificates and prizes that included basins, books, pens and hankie-kerchief courtesy of East of African community.

Namilyango collected 853 points in all disciplines that included set-piece, traditional folk songs, instrumental composition, cite singing, drum based, creative dance and poem. Kalongo primary school in Agago district was a runner-up with 836 points.

Minister of education Rt. Lt Jessica Alupo handed over the shield to the pupils of Namilyango junior boy’s school amidst celebrations from the audience. Last year’s champions were Victoria’s junior pls school

Other pupils from various schools were recognized and awarded certificates in various discipline like drama, plays, original composition and creative dance. All the pupils received a hankie-chief with logo of East African community.

Some of the schools that participated where, Victoria Junior,Namutumba,Masindi Army pls school,masindi,Gulu prison pls,Gulu,Spire road Jinja,Elgon View Tororo,Wibere pls school,Pallisa,Kotido pls school,Amus Sapir pls,Bukedea,Homing Dove pls,Moyo and Kabale preparatory school among others.
