FUFA has withdrawn plans to fly out Uganda Cranes fans for the crucial Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Palancas Negras of Angola after poor response.

The federation had plans to fly out as many fans as to cheer the Cranes in what is expected to be a historical qualification if they secure at least a point they need to qualify for the Nations Cup for the first time since 1978.

But FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa said yesterday that they had to withdraw the plan after realising that it was an expensive venture.

The federation had instituted a desk for the fans to register at a $1600 (sh4.5m) for return strip with accommodation catered for under their administration. Only 16 fans had registered at the time of cancelation of the project.

Cranes start training on August 28 and expected to fly to Luanda on September 2.
