KAVUMA Kabenge will be at the helm of the Uganda Super League Limited’s board for another season.

The board’s general meeting at Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Saturday found no reason to replace Kabenge.
Fred Muwema (Villa), John Mutenda (KCC) and Thadeus Kitandwe (Bunamwaya) were also maintained on the management board.

A record 13 clubs turned up for the meeting which ironically was not attended by Bunamwaya and Proline who pushed for it. New entrants BIDCO were the other absentees.

Bunamwaya and Proline together with Jinja Declaration Committee (JDC) head Richard Omongole were last week at the forefront of the move to cause the meeting.

The clubs wanted USL’s articles and memorandum of association reviewed and the company’s accounts presented.

JDC represents a committee put in place in 2009 to fast track the professionalisation of the football super league, Uganda’s premier soccer showpiece.

The league’s unaudited accounts were passed save for a few queries.

“Former secretary Mujib Kasule has to make some explanations in regard to some expenses,” said USL media spokesman James Sekandi.

The meeting also cautioned Bunamwaya and Proline from attacking USL in the media. USL members were also barred from attending FUFA and JDC meetings without the mandate of USL.

Contravention of this resolution will result in sanctions, read a release issued by USL.

The meeting also resolved to engage FUFA on a compensation scheme for Super League club players on national team duty.

USL is also in the process streamlining its operations. Procurement, security and human resource committee policies will be developed to ease the company’s operations.

The Bell Uganda Super League kicks-off on September 9 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
