URA sign record striker on two-year contract
League record scorer Andrew ‘Fimbo’ Mukasa completed his move to URA after signing a two-year contract worth sh10m.

Mukasa, who looked reserved, was given shirt 12 during the function at Hormisdallen Primary School ground in Gayaza.

Mukasa’s record registered in the 1999 season with SC Villa stands at 45 goals. The league champions also unveiled their new website and launched registration of their fans.

“Our target is to reach the group stages of the continent’s Champions League and also become the dominant force in the region and in the country,” said Ali Ssekatawa, the chairman of URA Sports Club.

Mukasa will reportedly earn sh450, 000 per month for two years. A fan also pledged to offer the striker appropriate meals. “He will still stay with his mother for the time being. We traditionally house our players in pairs but Mukasa is a special case who needs some time to adjust,” said URA team manager Idris Ssessanga.

Coach Alex Isabirye said Mukasa will give his club an upper hand next season. The club might however lose Moses Feni, who is reportedly on trials in Norway, and Dan Wagaluka currently in Rwanda.

Mukasa has improved
In the ongoing Bika tournament, Mukasa has reminded fans of his footballing brilliance.

Despite his 10-year absence from competitive football, Mukasa has featured for his ‘Ngo’ clan and has spurred it to the quarter final stages.

“I came to watch Mukasa and he has given me the joy. He is a player who almost smells the ball and positions himself well. He can still dribble and shoot. Thanks to URA Coach Alex Isabirye for bringing Mukasa back for our joy”, said a fan Betty Namagembe.

“I shall support Ngo once Mukasa plays even if he scorers against my clan. We need him back into the Cranes”, said Livingstone Kiwanuka of Ffumbe Clan.
