UGANDAN Ponsiano Lwakataka, seeking to better his national championship fortunes away in the Kobil Tanzania Rally, has opted for a cautious approach in the super special stage Mmalimi City today.

“I never go for top speed in sprints even in in Uganda. I just need to be careful right from the first stage on Saturday (tomorrow),” Lwakataka said after route reccing in Dar-es-Salaam yesterday.

Lwakataka, who will be flagged off sixth, reckons a top five position is possible despite the challenging route he is unfamiliar with.

Should Lwakataka go ahead and win in Tanzania, he will take Uganda’s crown with the Independence Rally to spare. The Tanzania competition is round six of the Africa Rally Championship.
