Two people were on Thursday nominated to contest for Entebbe Municipality Parliamentary seat.

Patience Mubangizi of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Mohammed Kawuma of Democratic Party (DP) were by noon declared candidates in the by-election.

The nomination exercise took place at Changsha Model Primary School, Entebbe Municipality in Wakiso district.

Three people booked with the Electoral Commission (EC) to be nominated on Friday, according to Sarah Bukirwa the Wakiso district returning officer.

They are Wilberforce Seryaazi of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Haawa Nakibuule and Charles Kirumiira both independents.

High court in Kampala nullified the election of Muhammad Kawuma as Entebbe Municipality MP on grounds that the Election body did not comply with electoral laws.

In his judgment, Justice Andrew Bashaija said the omission of the vote tally from 12 out of 74 polling stations, affected the final result in a substantial manner. A total of 8,220 voters were registered in the 12 polling stations.
