BRIAN Asea, a student of Kyambogo University and Moreen Namatovu of Makerere University Business School emerged the lucky ones to hang out with local hip hop artiste Mun*G, (Emmanuel Matovu Mungi). They hang out with him at Madman Creative Studio’s in Bukoto, on Idd-el-Fitr day. Solomon Oleny had a chat with them shortly after.

Solomon: Wasalaam, folks, how is your Idd Day?

Brian: It is interestingly crazy. Nothing feels as lucky as hitting three birds with the same stone. I am so thrilled because today is my birthday, I have met my favourite star and it is Idd. What more can I say?

Moreen: Well, my Idd was boring until Blitz called me up to meet Mun*G. Initially, it sounded like a prank. However, when I got to New Vision, I found it was true. I was excited.

How do you feel after meeting him?
Moreen:
I had a good time. I felt so young and cherished when he carried me in his arms. Then he and I sang along to one of his hits called Speaking in Tongues and I grooved to near breaking a limb.

Brian: I expected Mun*G to reflect the person I have always envisioned – crazy and jumpy. But I was stunned to find him a polite and God-fearing artiste. In fact, he had his rosary on instead of the heavy diamond and gold bling musicians usually don.

What is it you wished you had asked him but forgot?
Moreen:
Nothing, I only wish he had answered my question about his relationship status. He beat about the bush until I gave up.

Brian: I asked all my questions and they were all answered. He even told me Mun*G is the played-with version of Mungi, his surname.

Mun*G is known to be Mr. Kyaba Too Much due to his hit of the same name. Did you find anything too much about him?
Moreen:
Nothing was too much really; I just found him mesmerising, especially his hair style. It is so soft, springy and charming.

Brian: I appreciate his creativity. To me, anything Mun*G is enough, not too much. He has mastered the art of playing about with words naturally, and that I respect. I pray he keeps it up.

Anything you will write home about meeting Mun*G?
Brian:
Well, this meeting was a highlight of my birthday, thanks to Blitz. I will never forget it.
