The district task-force was formed recently at an emergency meeting for district leaders and representatives of development partners chaired by the LC5 chairman, Luka Nyeko, at the district council hall.

The committee, comprised of clinicians, laboratory technicians, social workers and other partners, was tasked with following up the registered cases and taking their history and samples for further tests.

A total of 99 suspected cases of Hepatitis B have been reported at St Joseph’s Hospital Lacor since June. A medical officer there, Dr. Sam Oloya, told the meeting that the patients presented symptoms that included yellow eyes.

Oloya added that there was need to carry out confirmatory tests on the 99 cases.
