AS the race to next month’s decisive Nations Cup qualifiers gathers pace, various countries are doing everything humanly possible to secure places at the finals in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea.

While soccer governing body FUFA are seeking divine intervention in their bid to overcome Kenya in a delicately poised fixture, their Group J closest rivals Angola have reportedly turned to financial incentives.

According to sources in Nairobi, the mega-rich oil giants are preparing to slap Kenya with ‘massive bonus offers’ if they can beat Cranes in Kampala.

Of course Angola themselves have to beat Guinea Bissau to stand a chance.
But the Southern Africans feel that their Portuguese-speaking colleagues Bissau, who are completely out of the qualifiers and will not find it financially logical to fly back their professional stars for the game, will pose no significant threat.

“They (Angola) feel Uganda is in a strong position. Their hopes are in Kenya and Angola will try everything, including bonus offers to motivate them,” a source disclosed last week.
