OVER the next three months P7, S4 and S6 candidates will be sitting for the national examinations.Every school is intensifying last minute preparations of their candidates to pass with flying colours.

However, for some schools and candidates, the preparation also involves doing anything including cheating to get super grades.

But is it worth it for the individual candidate? You may be under pressure to get good grades that tempt you to consider cheating.

The pressure to cheat may come from many circles. It could be from a parent or the school administration. It could also be from peer.

But as a candidate, if you are found cheating, it won’t be your parent or the school head teacher to suffer. It will be your results which will be cancelled and your future ruined. You may be able to get good grades through cheating, but also you may be caught and the consequences are grave. Cheating is like getting something for nothing.

If you don’t get caught, still that guilt may come to haunt you down the road, when you are required to apply what you have learned out there in the world.

In either case, there is also the moral stigma that you subconsciously hold that you did not deserve the grade you received and that you are a cheat.

Although you may be pressured to get good grades, you should not cheat. If you don’t get caught, you will probably end up lacking knowledge and skills. You might also become morally bankrupt. Realise that you have the potential to get good grades without cheating. And remember during this period, there are unscrupulous characters selling fake exams. Avoid being a victim.
