Govt lauds fallen West Nile Bishop

Government has hailed the fallen retired Bishop of Madi and West Nile diocese the Late Rt. Rev. Dr. Enoch Lee Drati for his outstanding contribution towards the development of West Nile.

Government has hailed the fallen retired Bishop of Madi and West Nile diocese the Late Rt. Rev. Dr. Enoch Lee Drati for his outstanding contribution towards the development of West Nile.

Delivering government’s condolence message at All Saints Cathedral Kampala during a requiem mass for the late Rev. Drati, state minister for internal affairs James Baba said government of Uganda had lost a great man of God who loved promoting developmental programs in his area and the country at large.

“Government greatly appreciates the works of the late Drati to both the country and the people around him,” he said.
Baba noted that Drati empowered development in west Nile through engaging the youth and his flocks into programs that were aimed at bailing them out of poverty.

He added that Drati promoted the Madi Diocese in the Diaspora and also championed the building of Emmanuel Cathedral which is an outstanding Cathedral in the West Nile.

“Drati was a great man that was determined to achieve his goals. He sold Madi diocese to every one like it was his own property he will be dearly missed,” Baba Stated.

Ruth Lematia (Maracha district) described the late Drati as one that loved educating the unprivileged to for a brighter future.
“He was one of the great men we had in West Nile, he hated poverty so he always wanted every one to engage in something that will develop them,” she added.

Lematia noted that Drati liked engaging his community in developmental programs than wait for government to develop his area.

The chairman Arua Community in Kampala Joseph Etima described the late Drati as a disciplined, intelligent, hardworking and determined man of God which he challenged his family to emulate.

Drati died last week in California USA where he retired after serving as the Bishop for Madi diocese from 1994 to 2005. According to Dr. Ezati who is a close friend to the late Drati, the deceased died of Pancreatic and liver cancer. He has left behind nine children, a widow and 9 grand children.

 The government of Uganda facilitated the transportation of his Body from United States of America (USA) back to Uganda. He will be buried at Emmanuel cathedral in west Nile.
