Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala has said Ugandans should join hands to fight corruption, child sacrifice and domestic violence in the country.

“Much as religious people put in a lot of effort towards enlightening the public on the effects of brutality and corruption, there is still no change within society. The vices indicate that we are still in darkness,” he said.

Wamala was delivering the message on Christmas day at St. Peter’s Church Nsambya in Kampala.

“Such acts have tarnished the image of our country. Drunkenness, corruption and theft have taken first position within the society,” he added

“Things are mixed up, everywhere you hear corruption.  I call upon all Ugandans to know that Jesus was born to gives us light to know what is right and what is wrong.  It is shame for officials to swindle public funds when others are suffering,” the Cardinal said.

Wamala cautioned   the public against engaging in violence saying it disrupts the work of peace loving Ugandans.

“You should emulate Jesus Christ, whose birth is celebrated on Christmas Day, by remaining peaceful and also reject acts of violence as a means of resolving conflicts,” Wamala said.

He said that it is through reconciliation that will be able to have peace and development in Uganda

The Cardinal hailed the Ninth parliament for its tireless effort towards fighting graft and further asked politicians and head of public institutions to emulate them in order to reduce cases related to corruption
