Mutyaba forks sh245m from El Merriekh

Bunamwaya Sports Club and Cranes winger Mike Mutyaba signed a two-year contract at Sudanese giants El Merriekh worth $100000 (sh245m).

The deal which is the most lucrative for a Ugandan player in recent transfers has seen Mutyaba bag a sign on fee of $15000 (sh37m) and  will get a monthly salary of $3000 (sh7.3m) subject to increment the moment he impresses further in El Merriekh.

It has come at a time another Bunamwaya and Cranes player Owen Kasule completed a two-year transfer to Vietnamese V League club Hoang Ahn Gia Lai FC at $23000 (sh54m).

Mutyaba, who recently converted into Islam and adopted the Sulaiman, also has bonus of sh2.4m for every win El Merriekh registers at CAF competitions, sh490,000 for every win in the Sudanese premier league as well as sh24.4m if he scores more than 12 goals in a season at the club.

Bunamwaya SC takes $25000 (sh61m) for a player they bought from Wembley at sh1m at a time he was destined to Express FC in 2007.

The player had a successful medical test by the Omdurman based club on Tuesday.

El Merriekh have been following Mutyaba since the 2009 CECAFA U-17 championships in Khartoum, the 2011 Kagame Cup and the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Dar es Salam three weeks ago when they confirmed that they would take the player for trials.

At the Kagame Cup Mutyaba snubbed the Sudanese to go trails in Turkey which were unsuccessful hence the return to Merriekh.

Mutyaba becomes the second Ugandan player to play in the Sudan premier league after Joseph Kabagambe who plays for Al Neel FC.
