WITH music blaring, Wampewo Avenue was impassable. By 10.30 am, the children who turned up for My Kid is a Superstar Christmas party at Kololo airstrip were already breaking a sweat.

They ran up, sliding down and jumping on their favourite, the bouncing castles!

Those who love to swim splashed water in the pools like there was no tomorrow.  The few who had a phobia for water chose to engage the popular cartoon clowns; Mickey Mouse and Garfield.

“Life is good, I am enjoying the games. I wish my parents could bring me here every weekend to play,” said a sweaty six-year-old Jovan.  “I have enjoyed the camel ride, have had my face painted, played and now I am a real superstar,” confessed a seven-year-old child full of excitement.

That was the feel at My Kid is a Superstar Christmas party at Kololo Airstrip last Sunday. The Christmas party organised by Mase Consultants was the first of its kind; attracting a huge crowd of children and adults as well.

Indeed it would be  an understatement calling it a children fanfare for many parents seemed to enjoy much more than their children.

“With pressures from work and career advancement, parents are too busy to spend time with their children. As part of the festive celebration, we decided to organise a fun day out for the children where they can play with their friends in the company of their parents,” said Joseph Masembe, the brain behind the event. The Christmas party, he said, also gave parents an opportunity to see their children’s talents.

Children were spoilt for choice when it came to the numerous activities.
There was a dancing competition, sack race, bouncing castles, swimming, face painting, camel riding, painting and reading competition.

The winners walked away with prizes that included sh100,000, T-shirts and gift hampers.

The children’s evening was punctuated by a performance from dancehall singer Coco Finger, their favourite artiste with whom they danced struggling to keep pace with his strokes.

To crown the party, children who were born in December cut and served their birthday cake, while the rest of the children cut a Christmas cake.

The children also got Christmas gifts from Santa Claus.
