Peter Kimbowa of Management Consultant has told hundreds of participants at the fourth Buganda Conference that it is high time non-performing Mengo ministers and sazza chiefs are sacked.

He also said, “The spirit of volunteerism worked in the past but with the fast changing world, Buganda can only develop through entrepreneurship and developmental-minded leaders. We must be able to sack any minister or sazza chief who cannot deliver.”

He added, “We want ministers and sazza chiefs who have a score. We need programs of action not just talk . We want visionary leaders who can effectively mobilise Kabaka’s subjects for developmental programs.”

Kimbowa was presenting a paper ‘Walk the walk- Developing strategic management approach to growing investments in the kingdom of Buganda.”

Kimbowa challenged Mengo government to come out of their cocoon and ‘constructively engage the central government because you cannot work in isolation. Let us bury our pride, political or other differences we have for the sake of the kingdom.”

Adding, “You must ensure that in the next Buganda conference, His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni graces the function. We must move forward and Buganda is an economic engine in Uganda”

The conference was attended by the Nnabagereka Sylvia Nnaginda, Katikkiro J.B. Walusimbi, all former Buganda Prime Ministers, Emmanuel cardinal Wamala , Anglican Bishop Dunstan Bukenya, Pastor Sserwadda , royals, politicians and the youth.

Kiyimba had no kind words for Uganda’s youth especially those in Buganda whom he accused of having ‘   a consumption culture.”

“I’m perturbed by lavish spending of youth at introduction ceremonies. They bring gifts of over sh50m but they cannot buy the Buganda kingdom development certificate of only sh50,000.”

He said that most of the youth introduce when they are jobless without any income which is a paradox.

Kimbowa amused the gathering when he said that as a member of the Columbus Monkey (Ngeye) clan they about to table a resolution to revert to the original holding of introductory functions in secret.

‘If passed we shall only allow less than 10 people at introduction ceremonies, who must arrive at mid-day and leave by 4.00 pm because we are busy people.”

Kimbowa also said that the bridegroom to be must possess a kingdom development certificate of not less than sh1m, a land title in the names of the would-be couple and plan for the construction of their residence.”

He said that promoting investment in a new Buganda and a new Uganda entails changing the mind set of Ugandans.
“Things cannot be the way as they were 200 or 400 years ago. Today we must make a choice. We want key projects worked on, achievements attained and how failures can be avoided.”

Kimbowa said that Buganda needed to attract investors especially in agro-business and agriculture.

He challenged the organizers to ensure that next Ttabamiruka various Universities showcase their innovations and the biggest Buganda youth body Nkoba za Mbogo be improved to mean economics.

Joseph kitamirike the executive director Uganda securities Exchange offered to champion the buying of securities for Buganda kingdom.

He said he would also help the Buganda investment trust headed by former Kkatikkiro Joseph Ssemwogerere to get operating funds through bonds.

Sweveral presenters called for unity, creativity, skills development and optimal use of the many resources in Buganda to start up investments that would create the badly needed jobs.
