KAMPALA Capital City Authority executive director Jennifer Musisi has warned the public against dealing with Suleiman Kidandala as deputy Lord Mayor, saying he has no power to represent the authority in that capacity.

In an advert placed in the New Vision yesterday, Musisi maintained that Kidandala was not duly approved and had no mandate to transact business on behalf of the authority as deputy Lord Mayor.

“This is to inform the general public that the councillor, whose photograph appears herein above, was appointed by the Lord Mayor but not duly approved by the Authority in accordance with section 9(3) of the Kampala Capital City Act, 2010.

Therefore, any actions or representatives made by him as deputy Lord Mayor are not representative of the Kampala Capital City Authority,” the notice read.

“Please be advised that whoever transacts any business with the above named councillor in his purported capacity of deputy Lord Mayor does so at his own peril without any redress from Kampala Capital City Authority,” Musisi added.

The Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, appointed Kidandala as his deputy on October 19, amidst protest from some councillors of the authority.

He went ahead to install him on Tuesday, despite a directive from Musisi to halt the ceremony.

In a letter to Lukwago, Musisi  said the swearing -in of Kidandala was unlawful since it was not approved by the councillors.
A group of councillors threatened to censure Lukwago if he does not revoke Kidandala’s appointment before January 5.
“I have no time for non-issues,” Lukwago replied when the New Vision contacted him.
