UGANDA’S team members want the sunny weather to prevail in Nairobi during the third and final round of the FIM East and Central Africa Motocross Challenge.

The event is due at the Jamhuri Park today, with Uganda’s team led by Arthur Blick Jr leading the standings.

Uganda won the second leg on home turf after their rivals were top performers in the first leg in Nairobi.

Blick’s team of 30 riders is looking forward to racing on a dry track and therefore want the sunny weather to prevail.

Blick Jr and his colleagues yesterday had the feel of the 2.5km track.

They took a close look at the sections and corners.

The team members feel that if it rains, they will not be able to compete favourably with their rivals.

“We have gone through the truck, we hope it continues to be sunny.” team captain Blick Jr said Friday.

Blick Jr will compete in the MX1 category.

The main event of the annual competition also has Blick’s colleague Asaf Natan.

They are up against Kenya’s Shivam Vinayak who won this category last year.

Riders accumulate points as individuals and also contribute to the team scores.

Uganda’s team also has Van Pee who will face Kenyan champion Tutu Maina in the MX2.

There will also be action in other events. These include the 50cc and 65cc categories.

Uganda’s Ali Omari and Alistair Blick are the riders to watch in the 65 cc category.

Their colleagues Paddy Blick Jr, Fortune Ssentamu and Wazir Omar are set to race in the 50cc category.

Ali Omar, the father of Omar junior, expressed hope that the youngsters will live up to the challenge. He said that the boys are ready to put up a decent performance.

The team is sponsored by National Council of Sports and Queens coach.
