Uganda Motocross Club's hope of taking a full squad to the FIM-East and Central Motocross championship was restored yesterday by National Council of Sports-NCS.

The sports supervisory body fully footed the 30 man squad travel and accommodation expenses while Motocross body-UMC met the riders feeding costs for the team traveling to the Saturday event at Jamhuri Park in Nairobi.

“We are well prepared and ready to win the championship but we are more grateful to NCS that have enabled the team to travel for the event, “team captain Arthur Blick stated.

“We are taking a big squad because of the lessons learnt from the past championship experience. We have reserve riders to back up the team in case of any unforeseen occurrences and we are looking at the 50cc and 65cc classes as our strongest hold,” Blick added.

The team heads for the 3rd round of the FIM-Central African Motocross challenge leads the point standing with 2705points, 269points ahead of Kenya with 2437points.

NCS secretary Jasper Aligawesa, urged the riders to use the 269 point advantage to win the challenge. “You must know that your team of 30 riders is representing the 30 million Ugandans remaining at home and we are expecting victory.” said Aligawesa before handing over the Uganda flag to Blick.

The first contingent leaves this afternoon with the bikes while the other team will leave on tomorrow.
