ALL is set for the Luweero woman MP by-election which is slated for Monday (November 21).

The Electoral Commission has recruited 340 presiding officers, 680 polling assistants and 330 polling constables to oversee the exercise which is scheduled to kick off at 8am.

The district returning officer, Peter Kasozi said during a briefing Sunday evening that the election materials would be dispatched to the various sub-counties by Sunday night.

He said the presiding officers had been given money to transport the kits from the sub-county headquarters to their respective polling centres. The Commission had by Sunday afternoon mobilized vehicles from the EC headquarters and from various districts within the region, to help in the exercise.

The Central Regional police commander, Richard Mivule said security had been beefed up with extra policemen who have been pooled from the districts of Nakasongola, Buikwe, Mukono, Kayunga and Nakaseke.

He said each sub-county has been allocated a police patrol vehicle and two motorbikes that will help in co-coordinating security during the exercise.

The six-woman race fields incumbent Rebecca Nalwanga (NRM), Brenda Nabukenya (DP), and Ziadah Gwokyalya (FDC). Also contesting are independents Hannah Kirabo, Elsie Namagambe and Elizabeth Lugudde.

The seat fell vacant after a September court ruling which nullified incumbent Rebecca Nalwanga's February election for having bribed voters.
