THE High Court will finalise all election petitions by the end of this month, judiciary spokesperson Erias Kisawuzi has said.

He also said the hearing of cases in the Court of Appeal was expected to start in October, adding that all election-related cases would be completed by the end of this year.

Kisawuzi was responding to complaints about court processes from residents of Goma Division in Seeta, Mukono district on Saturday.

The regular event was initiated by Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze to allow residents to present their concerns directly to representatives of key government institutions.

The residents complained that area courts take long to hear their cases and accused some magistrates of corruption.

The residents also accused some of the magistrates of colluding with tycoons and resident district commissioners to defraud them of their land.

“A tycoon fenced off my land and when I confronted him over the matter, he took me to court. I was accused of trespass,” a resident complained.

Kisawuzi advised residents to resolve simple disputes through local leaders, to avoid frustrations associated with court procedures.
