A primary school teacher in Omoro sub-county, Alebtong district is on the run amidst allegations that he defiled and impregnanted a 15-year-old girl.

The officer-in-charge of Omoro Police Post, Charles Abor, said Dalex Ocaka fled on September 5 after the victim’s parents registered a defilement case against him.

Abor said the incident occurred on September 4, and that the girl is four months pregnant.

“He is on the run but we shall get him,” Abor told New Vision on Tuesday, adding that Ocaka and the victim come from the same clan (Otikokin).

A brother to the victim alleged that Ocaka had been sexually abusing the girl for sometime but on September, 4 at around 9:00pm, they checked the girl’s room and failed to find her.

“She came back late and when we pressurised her, she confessed that she had been at Ocaka’s place,” he said.

Mike Odongo, the headteacher, said Ocaka had not yet reported to the school since the opening of the term, leaving only six teachers in charge of 965 pupils.

“He disappeared on Sunday and he claimed he was in Kotido attending to his child who had been involved in an accident,” Odongo said.

He attributed the increasing cases of child sexual abuses to both teachers and parents, who he said have become loose.

“Instead of taking appropriate action, they become loose and settle the matter secretly,” said Peter Okello.
