CONSTRUCTION   CHURCH  MUSEVENI   NAKASERO

The inauguration of the new All Saints Cathedral Nakasero in Kampala is set for April, 2019. The church after construction is estimated to cost sh26b.

According to Ivan Naijuka, the church public relations officer, work is steadily in progress and very soon they will embark on roofing.

A seven-storeyed, tower according to Naijuka, is part of the project and its construction has already been completed.

“We had anticipated the roofing to be complete by December and that Christians would have celebrated this Christmas and the New Year in the new cathedral, if the rains had not interrupted the roofing,” he said.

He added: “The church inside, including the altar, have been completed, but what remains is making the necessary fittings.”

He confirmed that they received sh500m from President Yoweri Museveni recently, in addition to sh50m the President contributed in the first phase of the project.

When the church building is complete, it will have a seating capacity of 5,000 people during service.

The Cathedral will have two levels of parking of 150 vehicles, an administration block and a church hall.

The project foundation stone was laid on February 27, 2011 by former Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi.
