Chimpanzee sanctuary receives Ruparelia Foundation support

Ruparelia Foundation has donated sh10m to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (Chimpanzee Trust), which will be used to feed chimpanzees at Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Valentina Ajay, an executive at Ruparelia Foundation Executive Valentina Ajay handed over the donation in form of a cheque to Dr.Joshua Rukundo, the Executive Director of Chimpanzee Trust.
"These funds will go a long way to ensuring the survival of the rescued and orphaned chimpanzees in our care as we navigate the effects of a lockdown brought about by the COVID-19 global pandemic," Dr Rukundo said in a statement.

The donation follows an appeal by Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary whose operations have been affected by the lockdown due to COVID-19. The operations of Ngamba Island are largely dependent on tourist revenue which is at a standstill in the entire world with travel bans in different continents.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is a project of the Chimpanzees Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT), established in 1997 and provides a home for over 50 orphaned chimpanzees.
