Two brothers die in a pit in Wakiso

“Luyima informed Police that two children of Sulaiman Kasule had fallen in a soak pit at the home of Kasule located in Katooke A zone.

Two people have died after they fell in a pit at Katooke, Nabweru Sub County in Wakiso district.


According to Police, they received information on Monday from a one Herbert Luyima, the information secretary of Katooke A zone, Wamala Parish, Nabweru sub-county, Wakiso district about the incident.

"Luyima informed Police that two children of Sulaiman Kasule had fallen in a soak pit at the home of Kasule located in Katooke A zone.

A team of the scene of crime officers,  detectives, fire and rescue officers was dispatched to the area and two bodies were retrieved," Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said in a statement.

The deceased were identified as; Frank Kavuma aged 19 years, a senior six leaver and Mark Mulangira aged 23years.

It's alleged that one of the deceased lost a key and it dropped in the pit of about 30 feet. 

 


"He fell inside the pit as he attempted to recover the keys. His brother also fell in as he attempted to rescue him," Onyango stated.

The bodies were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem.

Following the incident, Kalule and his wife collapsed due to high blood pressure (hypertension) and were admitted at Victoria clinic located at Katooke A zone.

Onyango said inquiries were still ongoing and that more details will be availed as they unfold.
