KAMPALA - The Police have started cracking down on motor vehicle owners who use suspected fake COVID-19 movement stickers.

On Tuesday, Police at Jinja Road mounted an operation aimed at netting drivers who fraudulently obtained movement stickers through their relatives and friends.

The operation also aimed at identifying some drivers who use fake movement stickers to hoodwink security on the road.

In the course of the operation, the Police impounded a Toyota Premio registration number, UAX 655W, and also arrested all its occupants.

The suspects have been identified as; Stephen Makanga, Ibrahim Bukenya, and Herbert Lukwago.

They claimed to be builders, adding that they acquired the controversial sticker from their boss, whom they declined to name.

Early this week, the Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, and the Minister for Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, sounded a warning to the members of the public, to stop the habit of manipulating these stickers.

Enanga added that six people had already arrested over the same case.
