Tactician Angelo Lonyesi hopes to join Tooro United

If appointed, he will be in charge of the last five games for the Fort Portal based side that is bottom of the league with 22 points.

Angelo Lonyesi is one of the candidates likely to take over as Tooro United new coach. Reports indicate that the former Police FC tactician could replace sacked Muhammad Kisekka.

If appointed, he will be in charge of the last five games for the Fort Portal based side that is bottom of the league with 22 points.

In a statement, the club chairman Michael Enganjani revealed that Kisekka and his technical team was sacked after failing to meet the club's set standards, poor performance and also making reckless press utterances that endanger the club.

It should be recalled that Kisekka was bitter at his players after their 1-0 home defeat to SC Villa at St Paul's Seminary Playgrounds in Fort Portal last month before the league took a break to allow the Cranes prepare for Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) which was later called off due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In that game, Kisekka was forced to change the lineup he had initially made after he allegedly learned that some of the players he had included in the starting lineup could have been involved in match fixing.

"We have a number of challenges we are facing. You saw me make the first lineup and eventually making changes. For any professional coach, you can't do that but because of the rumours of betting, we ended up making changes. You saw how we conceded a goal that was uncalled for. As a coach, I have no control over that.  I don't have evidence but it's happening. Every time I receive communication that your team has been manipulated, we concede goals we should not have conceded", stated Kisekka then.

"We have good players but their mental toughness is very poor. This is the third game in the second round that I'm getting information about my team being manipulated and you see it in the first minutes of the game we concede".

It is believed that these comments he made could have cost him the job he had held for three months.

The former Bright Stars coach left Tooro United bottom on the table with 22 points with five games left to end the season.

Tooro United that has had and still has many unanswered challenges such as player exodus, financial constraints, coaches exit, has previously been sighted in match-fixing allegations before just like some of the other clubs in the topflight.

The chairman's statement also read that the search for a replacement coach is underway
