Security restricts burial of former Kyaggwe' s Ssekiboobo to 30 people

The security team in Mukono district has restricted the number of people to attend the burial of former Kyaggwe county head, Ssekiboobo Alex Benjamin Kigongo Kikonyogo.

The Mukono Resident District Commissioner, Fred Bamwine who is the district head of security said they have only granted 30 people permission to attend the burial.

Bamwine said according to the Presidential directives in regards to such gatherings in accordance with the current situation of Coronavirus pandemic; it would have been a less number.

He, however, said in regards to the deceased's status, they managed to allow the number to only 30 people.

"We have already agreed on this with the family members, it will be them to decide who will attend the burial so long as they don't exceed that number," he said.

According to Kigongo's wife, Sarah Kikonyogo, he succumbed to high blood pressure, he fainted on the roadside on his way from Nassuuti town back to his home on Tuesday.

The wife said he was from buying newspapers as she was called by the people who saw him fainting.

"I rushed to put him in my vehicle, hurrying to take him to Mukono Church of Uganda hospital, however, the doctor shortly after receiving him told us he had already died," she said.

Also at the deceased's home, the mourners are very few and sitting in isolation from trying to adhere to the Ministry of Health's standing orders in regards to social gatherings as far as Coronavirus preventive measures are concerned.

The chairperson for the burial arrangements, Jonathan Ntulume, who is the speaker of Kyaggwe county asked the rest of Kabaka's subjects who would want to attend to the burial of Kigongo to stay home because the security will not grant them the opportunity to attend.

Ntulume said Kigongo will be buried at Neekooyedde village in Nakifuma county, Mukono district on Thursday at 2:00 pm.

Among the mourners found at Kigongo's home was the retired bishop of Central Buganda diocese, Jackson Matovu, former Buganda Kingdom treasurer, Eva Nagawa, Wilson Mukiibi Muzzanganda and others.
