A group of commuter taxi drivers from Usafi Taxi Park, on Monday, stormed Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA), demanding that the executive director orders all taxi back to the park.

The drivers held placards with messages saying all taxis on the roadside should be taken from the streets back into the park.

"We are suffering because some of these taxis drivers load passengers on the roadside, which needs to be checked," one of the drivers said.

The drivers said they pay taxes whenever they enter the park, yet the drivers who load from outside do not pay anything.

Recently the Police, KCCA launched a campaign to have all the commuter taxis withdrawn from the roadside and directed that no touts will be allowed to operate the business along the streets of Kampala.

The affected areas include Electoral Commission Stage, Uganda Management Institute, Entebbe Road around Ganesh Plaza and Mini price.

There leaders could not be reached by press time as they were in a meeting with management at City Hall.
