Entebbe golfer Irene Nakalembe shot an opening round three-under-par 74 to take a one stroke lead as the 10th edition of the Castle Lite Entebbe Ladies Open on Friday.

The five-time champion is onestroke ahead of regular campaigner Eva Magal who is looking for her first Entebbe championship, going into the final round of the 36-hole championship.

With the chasing pair of Kenya's Mercy Nyachama and Peace Kabasweka only 3 strokes away, an exciting ending is anticipated.

Martha Babirye who expected to be the immediate challenger for the crown finds herself 7 strokes away but is optimistic of better fortunes in the last round.

Over 100 golfers join the action on Saturday in the subsidiary event of the annual championship.
