The Police have said they cannot allow the planned consultation meetings by the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine until he fulfills the requirements.

The Uganda Police Force deputy spokesperson, Polly Namaye noted that until Kyagulanyi and his team submit the 10 strategies they proposed; all his meetings are illegal and will not be allowed.

"Following a meeting held at the Electoral Commission headquarters, Kyagulanyi and his team proposed to submit 10 strategies that they would follow to ensure no repeat of the lawlessness previously witnessed in Kasangati. But these strategies have not been submitted to force yet," she noted.

She stressed that on January 31, 2020, and on February 18, 2020, the Director of Operations in the Uganda Police Force, wrote to remind Kyagulanyi to submit his proposals, but in vain.

"We reaffirm the importance of a clear strategy for all the aspirants to hold a peaceful and orderly consultative meeting, through cooperating with the Police in ensuring violence-free meetings," Namaye noted.

She added: "The Police, therefore, still await the assurance that there shall be an effort to respect law and order by abiding with agreed-upon strategies in order to embark on the team's consultative meeting schedule".
