Church of Uganda launches school drug-free programme

Archbishop Ntagali said the future of the country and the Church depended on the youth, which was why the Church had no alternative but to sensitize and empower young people to guard themselves against the vice of alcoholism and drug abuse.

DRUG ABUSE 

KAMPALA -The Archbishop of the Church of the Province of Uganda, His Grace Stanley Ntagali Saturday morning launched the Church's 'School Drug-Free Programme,' which is aimed at preventing drug abuse in schools.

The function held at Mengo Senior School was graced by students from schools such schools Gayaaza High School, King's College Budo, Wampeewo-Ntakke SS, Nsangi SS, Kira SS, and Mengo Senior School, among others.

 
Archbishop Ntagali said the future of the country and the Church depended on the youth, which was why the Church had no alternative but to sensitize and empower young people to guard themselves against the vice of alcoholism and drug abuse.

During the function, students marched through Mengo and Nakulabye. They later presented musical items, skits, and poems about alcohol and drug abuse.

 
There was also a hot debate about alcoholism and drug abuse between the students of King's College Budo and Mengo Senior School.

The function was also graced by the KCCA Director for Public Health and Environment, Dr. Daniel Okello Ayen and Dr. Nazarius Tumwesigye from the College of Health Sciences, Makerere University, among other dignitaries.
