Stop worshipping fellow humans - Bunyoro bishop

"I thank this couple for finding light and receiving Jesus Christ as their personal saviour,’’ Bishop Kahuma said.

KAGADI - The Anglican Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Samuel Kahuma, has wedded a couple who recently defected from the Faith of Unity cult to the Anglican church, urging Christians to desist from worshipping human beings as earthly gods.

Bishop Kahuma made the remarks recently while officiating at the holy matrimony of Elisa Mayaga and Margaret Kajumba at St. Peter's Church in Parish Kyabaranzi, Kagadi archdeaconry.

"I thank this couple for finding light and receiving Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. I wish other people who are still lost in find light in Jesus Christ. Christ is way, truth and life,'' he said.

He clarified that it was blasphemous to worship fellow human beings, "yet the Almighty God our father who created Heaven and earth is living, omnipotent and Omniscience".
He challenged converts to stick to God and desist from being taken up by earthly pleasures which he said are temporary.

‘'Always seek God's wisdom first in order to attain heavenly kingdom. It is quite embarrassing to leave a bad signal to the young generation and in sin when we leave the earth to join our Father in heaven. We should leave a legacy that can be emulated by the living," he said.

Bishop Kahuma urged Christians to spear head the fight against women battering, promiscuity, human sacrifice, domestic violence, child abuse and drunkenness, which he said are detrimental to the development of the society.

He further advised Christians to preserve the environment through tree-planting, practising good methods of farming, reforestation and protection of wetlands.

He noted with concern the increasing land degradation, land fragmentation, deforestation and bush-burning, which he said are responsible for desertification and global warming.

Mayaga and his wife Margret had been members of the Faith of Unity cult for 25.
The couple thanked the Bishop for wedding them and showing them light, promising to abide by matrimonial vows.

It should be remembered that in early 2019 a total of about 25 believers of Faith of Unity cult crossed to Anglican church in a colourful function at St. Luke archdeaconry.

MP roots for government programmes
Jennifer Mbabazi Kyomuhendo, the Kagadi Woman Member of Parliament, thanked Bishop Kahuma for visiting St. Peter's Parish and giving light to Kagadi residents.

She urged Christians to denounce evils of violations of rights of children, people with disabilities and Women as vulnerable groups.

She insisted on the need for Christians to embrace government programmes such as Uganda Women entrepreneurship Programme, Youth Livelihood programme, Universal Primary and secondary education, which she said are helpful in fighting Ignorance, poverty and disease.
