KAMPALA - Former Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi will be buried Wednesday after dying aged 95. Moi will be missed by many, including a Ugandan comedian.

Moses Kawooya, a legendary entertainer, says he was hosted by the second Kenyan president in 2001, before his retirement in 2002.

Speaking to the New Vision on Tuesday, Kawooya revealed that he is the only entertainer who made Moi laugh during one of his visits to Uganda.

Kawooya, also the leader and founder of Ssanyu African Music and Dramatic Society, is now the Chairman of Nsambya Drivers Stage in Kampala.

According to Kawooya, 62, Moi was so pleased and happy with his comics, hence inviting him to attend Kenya's Independence Celebrations of 2001.

"Upon the visit, we toured Kenyan Museums, schools, hospitals, and Moi's home town. He (Moi) ensured that our lives didn't remain the same. He took some time and told me that ‘God's grace is upon those make others smile'," Kawooya said.

He added that this made him wonder how such a powerful president could tell inspirational and courageous words to a local Ugandan comedian.

"He was such a kind man that he could ‘bow down' to help one in need. He gave hope to those who were spiritually suffering," Kawooya added.

"May God really put Moi in a special and righteous place where eternal life lies," Kawooya said.
