The Ugandan crews of National Rally Championship winners Yassin Nasser (2019) and Christakis Fitidis (2017) completed the opening round of the Kenya National Rally Championship in 8th and 9th positions respectively.

Sunday's Guru-Nanak Rally in Machakos was the first round of the Kenya National Championship and also the first round of the East Africa Rally Championship.

Yasin had a good start, but he lost vital time when his machine got stuck in a muddy section.

The crews return to Uganda to start preparing for the Mbarara rally that kicks off this Friday in Mbarara.

Meanwhile, Michael Lubega, the son of former national rally champion Charlie Lubega, has been ruled out of the Mbarara event.

This is after Lubega sustained serious injuries following an accident last Friday on his way home. He is currently hospitalised.

Lubega and his brother Mark joined rallying last season in the Clubman Rally Championship and were meant to battle the big boys in Mbarara.
