Ongoing CAF project to develop coaching skills

FUFA football development director Ali Mwebe has revealed that the ongoing CAF D Women Football Grassroots Course at Njeru will help to provide participants with different coaching opportunities in the future.

"CAF came up with this project to produce coaches that will handle U15 girls during the CAF U15 School Girls Competition. But this knowledge can also be used by these participants in the future to develop their careers," he said.

The course got under way on Monday and will run until Friday.

It is a CAF project aimed at producing women football coaches that will handle girls during the CAF U15 School Girls (seven-a-side) football tournament comprising of eight selected schools.

The tournament is slated for February 20 in each of the 16 nations with eight teams (schools) involved.

In Uganda, FUFA selected Uganda Martyrs HS Lubaga, Kawempe Muslim SS, Rines SS, Town View SS Bugiri, Wakiso Hills, Taggy HS, Jinja SS and Olila HS.

CAF also decided to train two participants from each of the eight selected schools so as to implement them with skills before the U15 girls' competition.

Uganda is part of the 16 countries that are to benefit from this project aimed at developing women's football.

Ghana, Seychelles, Tanzania, Cameroon, Gambia, Malawi, Lesotho and Burundi are some of the other nations taking part.

The newly appointed CAF Regional A instructor, Magida Nantanda, is in charge of imparting skills to the participants.
