Understanding the data protection and privacy act

The Data Protection and Privacy Act,2019 was assented to by the president on 25th February 2019 and came into effect on 3rd May 2019.
The Act was put in place to;
i. Comprehensively and adequately provide for matters on data protection and privacy that were not addressed in the previous legal regime on data protection.
ii. Give effect to Article 27 of the Constitution by safeguarding the data collected.
iii. Protect the privacy of the individual and personal data;
iv. Regulate the collection and processing of personal information;
