After being crowned champions of MOSAC Kapeeka rally, the crew of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba have now set their focus on defending the National Rally Championship title.
Nasser told New Vision that he has started preparation for the season that starts next month February 14-16, with the Mbarara rally in the western city of Uganda.
Navigated by Ali Katumba in the Subaru Impreza GVB, Nasser won the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally and MOSAC rally but finished on the podium in the Fort Portal Rally, fourth in the Hoima Rally and second in the Masaka Rally.
"We know we have got a tough task ahead of us, but we have to defend our title and we have started preparations," Nasser stated.
"Our target is to better last year's performance both on the local scene and in the WRC candidate Kenya Safari rally where we finished ninth overall," Nasser said.
He, however, urges the organisers and the national motorsport governing body to set conducive regulations for the competitors.
Nasser will, however, face stiff opposition from three-time champion Ronald Ssebuguzi, and other former champions Dr. Ashraf Ahmed, Christakis Fitidis, Arthur Blick Jr and Rajiv Ruparelia who will be promoted to NRC this season.
