Boy falls into abandoned pit-latrine, dies

Iganga: Tragedy befell residents of Bulunbandi village, Nakigo sub-county in Iganga district when an eight-year-old boy fell into an abandoned pit-latrine and died.

Kasaja's uncle Mohamed Babalanda said he had earlier thought the children were still playing in the backyard but was shocked upon being informed by neighbours that he had fallen into a pit-latrine.
Babalanda said the owner of the abandoned pit-latrine should be held acountable for not covering it over a period of time.
The Iganga district Police commander, Willy Ndawula, said investigations were still ongoing.
He said the Police would charge the owner of the pit with negligence.
