Close to 3000 participants from150 teams are expected to grace this year's Entebbe Holiday football and netball camp.

Speaking at the launch of the ninth edition at Nkumba over the weekend, Shafik Kakooza one of the organisers of the competition said this was one of the biggest turn-ups which they are going to handle.

"We expect participating teams from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. This edition we are going to spread awareness about the dangers of tuberculosis and how it can be prevented, but through football and netball," stated Kakooza.

The competition organised by Five Stars Football Club, Entebbe will run from January 10-15 at Nkumba secondary school.

Participants from nine years old to 20 (U-9, U-11, U13, U-15, U-19) will compete in football for boys and girls plus netball. The camp is expected to attract 150 teams with a total of 3000 participants for both football and netball from different parts of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

One of the reasons behind this competition was to promote talent among the young generation, provide education through bursaries and giving a hand to those from poor backgrounds through football and netball.

Creating unity among players, promoting them to the topflight leagues and national teams is another reason why this camp was introduced.

Many children have been achieved from the past editions with some of the players taking part in the U-15 and U-17 national boys teams plus the U-17 girls' national side.

Ajax Queens walked away with the girls' trophy last year while Isra Soccer academy, Five Stars, Streamline Soccer Academy, Elite soccer academy and Proway won the U-19, U-15, U-13, U-11, and U-9 respectively.
