Two killed, seven injured in Mityana Road accident

Two people were killed in an accident on Mityana Road when a taxi they were travelling in lost control and overturned.

The Mpigi District Police Commander, Herbert Nuwagaba, said in a statement the accident occurred on Saturday at about 11:00am at Nswanjere trading centre.

"The vehicle lost control due to a mechanical problem and overturned. Two people, including the driver of the taxi, Samuel Tebandeke and another unidentified person, died on spot," he said.

Those injured and admitted at Nswanjere HCIII are Isaya Ndagishimana, Jovani Byentiza, Henry Lubura, Esther Nakitenda, Godfrey Sembusi, Lt John G Iswaya attached to Bombo barracks and Joyce Nakiwunge.

"The bodies were taken to Mityana Hospital for postmortem while the wreckage of the taxi was towed to Jezza Police Station pending inspection and enquiries continue," Nuwagaba added.
