In a dramatic twist, the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) elections are turning dirty with one of the member club petitioning the whole process as unconstitutional.

On Thursday, Uganda Motorsport Marshals Association (UMMA) wrote to FMU secretary Joseph Mwangala cautioning him on the AGM notice released arguing that it was unconstitutional.

Mwangala had sent out a notice indicating that the elections will be held on February 1, at Lugogo.

The member club reasons that according to the constitution the outgoing executive led by president Dusman Okee did not appoint the senate which is mandated with the powers to appoint the Electoral Committee.

They argue that it is only the electoral committee comprising of three members that is supposed to set and communicate the election guidelines but not the FMU secretary as Mwangala did.

"The constitution is clear and we shall not tolerate any action that breaches it," noted UMMA Chairman Abdul Boogezi.

UMMA is one of the clubs that is fronting Geofrey Nsamba for the post of president to oust incumbent Okee.

"I like one of those interested in the seat want justice and it is time that we respect our constitution," Nsamba said.

He added that the FMU management committee breached articles 7.2.4, 7.5.2, 7.5.3, 7.1.1 and 7.1.3.

UMMA wants the seating management committee to vacate and give way to the interim committee to organise the elections.

Efforts to get Dusman Okee or a member of the FMU management committee were futile as they were locked in an executive meeting.
