The Kinawataka swamp that filters sewage and emissions from various areas in Nakawa Division and Kira Town Council in Wakiso district flooded Thursday morning.

Residents around the areas lost property worth millions as their houses were submerged in flood water.

The road was also cut off by the water.  Alfred Ochwo captured the moment in pictures.

Property lost in Kampala floods

KAMPALA- Several people around Kampala have lost property and some left homeless after the Boxing Day heavy rain.

Some residents of Kanyanya, a Kampala suburb said the floods were caused by blockage of the drainage systems by some reckless people.

"We don't know what to do next about the floods, we have tried our best but have failed. We call upon the government and the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to intervene in this situation," they said. Photos by Simon Peter Tumwine
